Kurt moves out!

So I finally started working on the actual puppet,
and now I wanted to show you guys the progress so far!

I went to Ron last friday (I should've already posted this by the time I got home from him, but in my lazy manner got a tad too tired when things settled down). After a hard days work Kurt reached this point of his development.

It feels sort of stupid to admit it, but by the time I got home I realized I didn't have a proper scissor to cut the fabric Ron sent me home with, I'm hoping to make up for lost time and go and buy a scissor and look for some extra fabric we need for the valkyrias.

While you guys wait for Kurt to get his clothes on (which I hope will be finished by Wednesday) have a look at either Ron's progress on Alicia (which is practically done) or mine on Kurt.

Major props to Ron for showing me the Ayako-method of making hands, and of course helping me sew the gloves on among helping me with various steps along the way so far.

New costum banner!

I figured that one earlier banner wasn't personal enough for this project, so I drew Slevaria and Kurt to use for a brand new banner.

Looks a lot closer to heart now, doesn't it?
The drawings can be found here:

"It's time to kick ass and chew caramells, and I'm all out of caramells!" Kurt Irving: Color/Size sheet

Temporary sheet for Kurt Irving

In order to give Ron an idea of what color of fabric I needed to use for Kurt's armor as well as the size compared to Alicia I decided to make a temporary sheet of sorts as a form of reference for both him and me.
It was also something I could make ot keep me busy seeing as all the material we need to build him are at Ron's house.

This might not be the reference I use when I actually start working on the doll since upscaling these pixels might distort the image and for the sole fact that it might be better to simply draw him on paper next to Alicia who was also drawing on paper.

But if we want to keep things going at a fast pace, I might just use this for something somehow...maybe rescaling and tracing it on paper would be the smarter thing to do instead of redrawing him all over again.

"Mobilizing on the Imperial Front"-- Welcome to the second branch of Project: Valkyria!

Welcome to 'The Imperial Front' of 'Ron Andersson's Project: Valkyria' stop-motion project.
In order to clear things out of the way I'd like to first introduce myself and what my part in this project is:

My name is Mario Simic and I'm a close friend of Ron Andersson and the very man who introduced Ron to the inventive and fun video game series, Valkryia Chronicles, to begin with (you could almost say that this project wouldn't have started wasn't it for me, pretty impressive right?).

I am a novice stop-motion puppet maker, that said I'm always aiming higher to do something a tad bit grander and branch out for the sake of my other art forms.

For this project I first started out as a consulant to Ron, suggesting ideas and listening to his. But my curiousity and my interest towards his earlier projects made me decide to get involved much further than anticipated.

Allowing me to come and build dolls with him, I was kindly invited to work on a few characters side by side with Ron and get supervized throughout the whole puppet making process and at the same time he offered to create the heads for my characters. The offer was to great to refuse, so now I'm participating in the project by creating a few characters that he will be using for his test animations.

This will (hopefully) speed things up and at the same time make Ron's project a lot more interesting.

I will also be assisting Ron with the after production stuff, co-directing various effects and what have you.

And that about sums my role up. As for this blog, 'The Imperial Front' will act as a sister site to the main site, which will later be renamed "The Gallian Front".

The characters I will be working on are following:

Kurt Irving
Kurt Irving is the squad commander of Squad 422 (aka The Nameless) and appears in the third game of the series. His cool attitude and slick design was what made me eagered to choose him, also Ron feelt there should be more male characters for this project.

Kurt will be the first doll I make and he will appear in his black-with-red-stripes Nameless outfit akin to the regular militia shocktrooper outfit.

Selvaria Bles
Selvaria Bles is one of my favorite characters in the series much due to how crazy fun battles become when she steps out to defend the empire and blows up a bunch of your tanks with one hit.
She is very gorgeous and powerful and also a Valkyria. Ron didn't show any interest in making her so I'm gladly taking a shot at her.

Selvaria will come second after Kurt and she will be dressed in the outfit she has during battle (that is, her ordinary outfit minus her cape). According to Ron, who is the better doll-maker, she will be a lot tougher to put together than Kurt, so wish me luck!

Head over to the partner blog (more accurately put, the parent blog), 'The Gallian Front', to see what is going on on Ron's end of Project: Valkyria.
